Hello everyone.  I am happy to have been invited to partake in this event.  Deliza Rafferty is hosting her LIttle Drummer Boy Book Blitz, which includes a giveaway.  Also she stopped by today to chat.  So stay tuned for this.

Deliza Rafferty is a new erotic romance writer located in Hollywood. She's written all sorts of stories and poems for personal enjoyment since she was a little girl, but has spent most of her career in the music business. She is venturing into sharing her musings publicly for the very first time and is excited that modern day technology allows her to do it at her leisure. "Deliza" means "gives pleasure and "Rafferty" means "rich and prosperous." With a name like that, what else could she do? Well...legally, anyway?

Deliza loves to interact with her readers, so feel free to stalk her all over the interwebz! .

Her latest book, Little Drummer Boy is available for sale.

Ten volumes total are planned, to be followed up with a full length novel. So don't worry; Sav will get her HEA!

Wait!  Don't go yet!  Here is a little bit more about Deliza.

What is your story about?
       Christmas sex. The end. LOL.

What traits were you looking for when you were creating the main character for this story?
Strength. Confidence. Sexiness.  Zero body shame. Fearlessness. Talent, both natural and honed
with study. Success of her own making and happiness independent of a man. Loyalty. Humor. Comittment to family and those she cares about.

Did you do any types of writing while you were in school.  If so did you receive any awards or recognition for your work?
I’ve been writing since elementary school, really. I did win third place in a regional competition for a story I wrote in 6th grade once. But once I hit high school my writing then turned more toward songwriting and poetry as opposed to prose. I did win some awards in song contests. I’ve been a blogger for quite a few years now, but it’s only been about a year since I got back into writing fictional stories again.

Was there anyone, in your life who was an inspiration for you to write.   If so what did they do?
Oddly this question has never occurred to me before, but I’d have to say no.  No one in my family writes, so I honestly have no idea where it came from.  I was a voracious reader since I was a child, so I suppose it became a natural extension to want to tell stories myself.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?  Can you elaborate on what has worked for you.
I suppose I’d just say thank you to them for taking the time to read my stories. (I don’t really understand this question, sorry!)

What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Well anything to do with music, as I’m a singer and songwriter. I love curling up on the couch with a marathon of paranormal shows and I love to spend time with my 7 year old twin nieces whenever I get the chance.

What has been your favorite part of being an author?  The least fave?
My favorite part is typing “THE END,” LOL. Writing is time consuming and stressful and part of me hates it as much as I love it. I think because I try so hard not to be “typical” within my genre that I stress myself right into writer’s block sometimes (I’ve been stuck with my current story since March - argh). But there’s NOTHING like the feeling of being finished. My least favorite part of being an author is having to do all the marketing myself. Boy would I be happy to get to a point where I could afford to hire someone to do that for me!

What inspired you to write a Christmas story? (I love the idea).
Well…to be honest I knew it was a good sales opportunity (ain’t gonna lie!). But also, I LOVE Christmas and I always feel extra romantic this time of year, so I figured since I write erotic romance, why not? Since I’m in the middle of writing a 10 story/novella series featuring the same character, it was a great opportunity to give her a drastic change of scenery. Holidays provide great backdrops for sexy    stories, I think. Except for maybe Arbor Day…

Where would you go for your dream vacation?  Would you ever use that location as the main location in a future story?
Hands down, Italy. If I ever visit, I have no doubt I’d put it in a story somewhere. I would do it now  except I feel strongly about authenticity in a story. It would be lacking since I’ve never been there. That’s another reason I decided to make Savannah a musician…partially for my own therapy lol, but also because I’ve read a lot of stories featuring musicians that are exceedingly unrealistic because the author has never experienced the lifestyle personally. Makes me a little wackadoodle.

What is in the works next for you?  If you can’t share, I totally understand and respect this.
I’m currently writing Intermezzo, Volume 5 of the Savannah Rossi Chronicles.  As the story begins we find she’s lost her mojo because of a devastating experience in Vol. 4 (Hound Dog) and is fighting desperately to get it back. In this story we finally get to know Leif, her lifelong best friend and closest confidante, who has been mentioned briefly  in other volumes. I’m having fun crafting childhood flashbacks throughout the story.

Here is an excerpt from Little Drummer Boy:

Frosted window panes

Candles gleaming inside
Painted candy canes on the tree…

She sung to herself as she adjusted the last ribbon in her hair.  It was her custom every Christmas Eve to sweep her raven tresses back and run curled Christmas ribbon through the rubber band that held them.  Red, green, gold and silver curlicues cascaded down her dark, lustrous pony tail.

Santa’s on his way
He’s filled his sleigh with things
Things for you and for me…

She carefully lined her plush lips with a blood red pencil and filled them in with cherry red lipstick.  She rubbed them carefully together, then put her index finger in her mouth, closed her lips around it and slowly dragged it out.  After washing off the lipstick that caught on her finger, she then blotted her lips on a tissue.  It wouldn’t do to have lipstick on her teeth.

It’s that time of year
When the world falls in love
Every song you hear seems to say
Merry Christmas…

Falling in love was not on the agenda tonight.  Other things, however - she hoped - would be.  She didn’t have to be at her parents house till tomorrow afternoon, so she would usher in the holiday with her favorite pastime - a little bit of singing followed by a hot, steamy romp in the proverbial hay.

Last sweep of mascara.  She got up from her vanity, grabbed her shoes out of the box sitting on her bed and slipped her feet into them.  A familiar pang of nostalgia briefly swept through her as she did so.  These were the glittering silver heels she wore to perform at the American Music Awards after party.  It was the night she’d found out that Leif, her best friend and bass player, would survive a kidney transplant.  It was also the first night she was with Logan, the bass player who’d filled in for Leif on the gig.  What started as three days of intense sexual tension on top of worry turned into one of the hottest nights of her life as Logan became the willing receptacle of all her emotional and physical turmoil.  That night in turn morphed into a blissful month as she witnessed her surrogate brother grow stronger every day and took her Southern gentleman to her bed nearly every night.
